School Activities

Pupils are given the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities including Drama, Dance and Sporting Activities. We have visiting teachers for Dance and Drama. Sport plays a major part in Kilglass N.S. The sports in our school are Gaelic football, soccer, hurling, camogie, handball, athletics and tag rugby.

Drama

Mrs. McLoughlin visits the school every Tuesday for Speech and Drama. All the children participate and the school perform a Christmas play/ concert every second year. Children attend a Panto the year that there is no play/concert.

Dance

Ria Purcell attends for dance lessons every Wednesday, the children really enjoy this and learn a lot. There is a performance at the end of the term.

Hurling/ Camogie

Kilglass has a long tradition with hurling/ camogie. Mr Glynn and Ms Tully train the senior classes and Brian Hanley comes to train skills to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class. The school teams play challenge matches, mini 7s and Cumann na mBunscol competitions.

Gaelic Football

Kilglass has a boys and girls football team. Mr Glynn, Mr Kane and Miss Mullins train the senior teams. Seamus Cooke teaches skills 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class. The school teams play challenge matches, mini 7s and Cumann na mBunscol competitions.

Soccer

Boys and girls from the senior room take part in the FAI 5 a side schools soccer tournament and the Coláiste an Chreagáin 7-a-side tournament.

Handball

Handball has become a very popular sport in Kilglass over the years. The children take part in Cumann na mBunscol competitions every year. The Senior Room have a handball competition at the end of the year.

Rugby

Trainers from Ballinasloe Rugby club train tag rugby in the school.
