eTwinning Microgrant 2024.

Thanks so much to eTwinning and Léargas for the Microgrant that helped 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th to engage in a Marine-themed project under the heading ‘In touch with our Ocean’. It was a super opportunity for pupils to take two trips to Galway to visit the Atlantaquaria in Galway, have hands-on workshops with Explorers Education Programme experts and to engage in a Beach Safari and clean-up. They really enjoyed the project as it made then realise the value of the Ocean and vulnerable it is in the face of Climate Change and pollution. The objectives of the project were clearly met as pupils learned about Ocean Literacy Principles and the importance of SDG 14-Life Below Water. Pupils
grew to appreciate and value the Ocean more as they explored the wonderful creatures that lie beneath the waves and indeed on the beach! They used digital tools such as iPads to record and showcase their findings. Thanks to Sibéal from Explorers Programme for sharing
her expertise, both in Galway and in the classroom and also Léargas and their eTwinning section for the funding and on-going support. Also thanks to the EU and the Department of Education.
