This week has been a very busy and enjoyable week in Kilglass as we celebrated ‘Creative Schools Week’, proving beyond a doubt the theme for this year that ‘CREATIVITY LIVES HERE!’. Senior rooms enjoyed workshops with a renowned filmmaker, Graham Cantwell. They learned all about the equipment used for making films, explored the process of creating a film and even created and starred in their own little film, Hollywood watch out!
All classes performed their hip-hop dance routines for the other classes and their parents. They did a fantastic job and are a very talented bunch.
We took part in various visual arts activities in each room on Wednesday, creating ornaments from recycled products to decorate our outdoor space. We made wind spirals, windsocks, sun catchers, fairy doors and painted rocks flowers and insects.
The senior classes did some coding workshops with the junior classes, which all enjoyed. Gymnastics workshops took place on Thursday.
To finish up the week we had a ceramics workshop with visual artist – Maeve Gallagher, who helped the children to explore with clay and create their own ceramic tiles.
Well done to all the children and staff for their excellent participation in this highly creative and fun week!
